Killer Cramps

Once, in high school, I remember one girl hunched over, crying in agonizing pain. When I learned it was from menstrual cramps, I didn't know what to think. I get cramps too, sometimes making me want to stay in bed all day, but never did I cry because of it.

All women are different, but for some women, the pain could be symptoms for something more than just cramps. March is Endometriosis Awareness Month, an illness that is quite common in young women.

To read more about it, check out the post I wrote for M.I.S.S.

Diggin' for Gold...Literally

My best friend called and invited me to a "Gold Party" she was hosting at her house. Apparently, she attended one a few weeks ago and made out with $440 with just a few random pieces of jewelry she found laying around her junk drawer. Cha-Ching!$!$

This gave me a great opportunity to clean out my jewelry boxes to dig for some gold, and ended up uncovering some memories in the process.

I don't own too much gold...my mother, on the other hand, is sitting on a gold mine. But I did find a gold bracelet that I forgot about. It must have been from 6th grade, from a "boyfriend" I had. Ew gross, Jada, if you're reading this, don't ever have a boyfriend that young. Anyways, he gave me a gold bracelet that says "I Love You" with tons of hearts. Awwww, cute but why do I still have it? I tossed that in my ziplock bag with the quickness to turn it into cash.

I also found another bracelet. In middle school, I went to Vegas with my family. I did what young kids did and hung out in the arcade. I met another young kid there, Daniel, and we had a fun time together. For some reason, I told him my birthday was in May, which happened to be a day before his. We ended up becoming pen pals and exchanged letters throughout the years. In high school, he sent me this bracelet in the mail. It was really sweet and pretty, with pearly green stones in silver hearts. I remember opening the envelope, which was all beat up in the mail, and being really happy to get it.

I lost contact with him towards the end of high school. Then, during my first year of college, a letter in the mail surprised me. I had to hide while reading it, because at the time, I was in a relationship. I never ended up writing him back.

Then, thanks to Facebook, he added me. We talked a few times, and he discovered, through my profile, that my birthday was not in May after all. Oops. Got caught!

I'm keeping that bracelet.

But I did manage to get rid of some other stuff, some silver, some costume jewelry. I didn't end up going to the party, but my bag made it, and earned me a whopping $55! That's more that I expected, and was well worth the ticket for a trip down memory lane.

I Love Playing with Balls, Especially Big Ones

No really, I love playing with balls. My favorite exercises involve a yoga ball or medicine ball. They're just so fun to throw around and really do work out your core. When I tried out the Ugi Ball for a review on M.I.S.S., I had a blast, and I worked out more than just my core.

The class was held at the Equinox gym in SF, and wow, talk about upscale. I wish I brought a swimsuit to take a dip in that fancy-ass pool. Oh, and there were lots of hottie business men working out after work....

But anyways, about the ball, it was SUCH a fun, yet intense workout. I've never sweat so much before while playing with balls. Yes, that's gross, but it's true!

A Day of Silence

On October 17th, 2009, I took Jada to the 20th Anniversary of the Loma Prieta Earthquake at the Cypress Memorial in Oakland. It was at that location where I lost my father in the collapsed freeway structure. I was only 8 years old, the same age that Jada was when I demonstrated to her what the seismic graph means. I took her by the shoulders and shook her vigorously, hoping she can make the connection of how the earth shook so hard that it took my father away.

As I reflect on the earthquake in Japan, I understand how powerful the earth can be. I know that on many scales, including the Richter, this recent earthquake weighs far heavier than the Loma Prieta back in 1989. But I can't but help make a comparison, because it's the same earth, the same boiled-up energy, and the same chain reactions of tectonic plates that caused any and all of it to happen. I know how it is to wait for 3 days with worry, only to learn that he wasn't coming home...ever. I know how it is to lose someone when the earth shakes.

But there is so much I don't know, and can't ever understand. Tsunamis, nuclear radiation...this is on a whole other level. Things are happening, and I will take this day of silence to reflect on it.

A Night of Beauty with L'Bel

I represented M.I.S.S. for a beauty event at the L'Bel suite in San Francisco. Sweet people, tasty food, and great products! A major highlight was the Skin Diagnostics machine, which can measure levels of your oiliness, moisturization, etc.. Amazing how technology can do so much nowadays.

Old Hollywood Glam

The rain didn't stop me from getting glamorous! Today was all about false eyelashes, waves, and lace. It's not easy being a starlet.

Spent some face time with Reinee of Project: face getting all dolled up, and then off the the Pin-Up Parlor for some waves. My ladies are so talented.

Then it was time for my movie debut at the California Theater.
